The Fall Survey Heading link

In fall 2023, Student Affairs Assessment and Planning launched The Fall Survey. Replacing the Entering Student Survey that was last administered in fall 2018, it is in pilot form and will be conducted annually going forward. For 2023, the survey was administered to undergraduate students only. A version of the survey for graduate and undergraduate students will be developed in coming years.

The Fall Survey is administered to current UIC students in the fall semester each year and has three components: 1) student information; 2) intervention questions; and 3) student learning outcomes assessment data. Student information questions reflect information frequently needed/requested by the university community that is not currently collected elsewhere, such as hours employed, military affiliation, and languages spoken. Intervention questions consist of items that may indicate that a student is experiencing a hardship and support to that student may be necessary. These items are in pilot phase. Student learning assessment data items are measures that operationalize the UIC Student Affairs student learning outcomes. They are in development and will be ready for use in 2025.
