Campus Housing
Campus Housing remains opens to residents, with two residence halls slated for renovations being brought back online to reduce occupancy density. These options also accommodate residents desiring who wish to engage in practices that encourages a higher level of awareness and protective lifestyle choices around COVID-19. - Face coverings and masks that cover the nose and mouth will be required in all interior public spaces and outside when social distancing cannot be maintained.
- Campus Housing Facilities will continue rigorous sanitation processes to clean and sanitize public spaces and other high traffic touchpoints.
- Hand sanitizer will be available at high traffic touchpoints.
- Hall gatherings and programs will be planned in accordance with the Restore Illinois plan guidelines.
- Guests will not be allowed in the residence halls. This includes both day visitors and overnight visitors. This policy will be revisited as public health considerations allow.
- To reduce occupancy density in residence hall communities, a hybrid of double and single rooms will be offered.
- Roommates will be considered household units and can be assigned together per mutual request.
- A residence hall building will be reserved for isolation and quarantine purposes.
- Room Change Requests will be suspended until further notice.
- Campus Housing will also be reducing occupancy density in Commons West and Commons South in an effort to reduce congestion in the community bathrooms in those residence halls. Rooms in Commons West may have two sets of furniture but only one student per room will be assigned.
- Any triple occupancy bedroom in a traditional style residence hall will be used as a double room at max.
- Campus Housing has instituted additional resident responsibilities in an effort to keep our communities safe. Students will be required to read and agree with these responsibilities as a part of the move in process.

1. “Traditional” Move-In – August 19 through August 23
- Drive-Through Check-In Locations keeps students and guests inside their vehicle upon arrival and verification
- Campus Housing has hired a professional moving company to assist residents during the Move-In process. This allows us to dictate safety measures under our contract with the movers. These movers will assist in the unloading of vehicle and transport of personal belongings from the vehicle to the resident’s assigned room. No cost is applied to residents. Residents are not required to utilize these movers assistance if they do not wish to do so.
- All residents, both new and returning, have been assigned a Move-In Time by the department, allowing us to make efforts to reduce congestion
- No guests are allowed to enter residence halls during this option
1. Early “Drop-and-Go” option – August 11 through August 14
- 1-hour timeframe in which residents can drop off items and then depart
- Keys are not issued to residents at this time – no continued occupancy is allowed until official Move-In
- Two guests allowed to assist with this option
- Those selecting this option will be assigned a traditional Move-In Time on Sunday, August 23 (at the end of our Move-In Days to maintain that reduction in congestion)
3.Interim Housing – August 8 through August 19
- Open to any incoming residents, both new and returning, needing an early arrival to campus
- Option for residents coming from states or countries with directives from the state of Illinois or City of Chicago to quarantine for 14-days upon arrival
- Minimal nightly rate based upon semester contract pro-rated nightly rates
- Two guests allowed to assist with this option
