Curricular Approach Timeline

Current Status

The Division of Student Affairs met in January 2025 to discuss the roll-out and timeline for implementing the Curricular Approach by Fall 2025. Participants engaged in education about the Curricular Approach to Student Affairs and worked collectively to share existing strategies around the Learning Goals of Belonging and Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

In February 2025 work teams began meeting every 3 weeks to engage further with training and implementation of the Curricular Approach. In the first session, the work teams reviewed Learning Outcomes and Rubrics for the Division of Student Affairs and began identifying the Learning Outcomes their individual units would focus on in Fall 2025. At the end of February, the second work session will occur during which staff will begin applying learning outcomes to their Fall engagement strategies and identify new strategies to employ around their unit Learning Outcomes.

Between March and May, three more training sessions are planned to engage deeper with the many aspects of the Curricular Approach. In the summer of 2025 UIC Student Affairs will attempt to take a holistic look at the Fall Learning strategies and identify gaps in learning to be addressed.
