Jinyoung Koh

Postdoctoral Research Associate

About

Jinyoung completed her doctoral degree in the Educational Psychology and Educational Technology program at Michigan State University. Her research focuses on racial/ethnic minority students’ intrinsic need satisfaction (i.e., autonomy, competence, and relatedness), social and emotional learning (SEL), career readiness, and psychological well-being. Among various theoretical approaches, she mainly applies self-determination theory (SDT) to address autonomy and intrinsic motivation in the context of student learning and development. As a woman of color and immigrant herself, it is her hope to advance diversity and social justice issues by extending the scope of SDT.
