Program Review
Program Review
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, UIC Student Affairs engages in a collaborative program review process. This process is a partnership between each department and the Assessment and Planning team, designed to support reflection, growth, and alignment with national standards.
The program review process includes three key phases:
Internal Self-Study
Each unit conducts a comprehensive self-study using the CAS (Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education) Standards. The Assessment and Planning team provides feedback and guidance throughout this phase to help departments reflect meaningfully on their goals, practices, and outcomes.
External Review
Following the self-study, departments host a review team composed of national and local experts. With support and coordination from Assessment and Planning, these reviewers offer objective feedback and share insights grounded in best practices.
Implementation and Growth
After the external review, departments work with Assessment and Planning to interpret findings and develop action plans. The team offers continued guidance to ensure that recommendations lead to measurable improvements and long-term impact.
