Learning and Support

UIC Student Affairs is committed to building a culture of continuous learning and improvement. The Assessment and Planning team provides a range of learning opportunities and individualized support to help departments strengthen their assessment practices and enhance student learning.

Since Fall 2020, we’ve offered an ongoing workshop series focused on key assessment topics such as annual goal setting, assessment methods, and measuring student learning outcomes. These sessions are open to all staff and designed to build practical skills that can be applied directly to departmental work.

Further, launched in Fall 2021, the Assessment Working Group is a year-long, collaborative experience for staff across the division. Participants volunteer to work on a specific assessment project for their unit, receiving guidance from Assessment staff and peer support from fellow group members. Membership rotates annually, creating a dynamic space for shared learning and innovation.

In addition to group learning opportunities, the Assessment and Planning team offers one-on-one support to staff across the division. Whether developing learning outcomes, designing assessment tools, or interpreting data, we provide tailored guidance to meet each department’s unique needs.

Together, these efforts help ensure that assessment is a meaningful, supported practice that drives student learning and success.
